Michelle Binyan Xu is a Ph.D. researcher in Interdisciplinary Design and Media at Northeastern University, working in the Playful Mind Lab across CAMD, Bouvé College, and the Center for Cognitive and Brain Health. Advised by Prof. Leanne Chukoskie and Prof. Casper Harteveld, she holds degrees from NYU ITP and Film, Television, and Media.

Her research intersects HCI, neuroscience, biosensing, and creativity, focusing on democratizing embodied computing. She develops accessible, customizable tools empowering artists, scientists, and clinicians to create with bodily data and sensing technologies. Her work spans creative expression, neurodiversity, and personalized healthcare, with collaborations at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. Her work has been presented at ACM CHI, UIST, DIS, SIGGRAPH, TEI, CHI PLAY, and Creativity & Cognition.
